Perhaps you saw the Pope standing on the beach in a puffa jacket last year. Social media went a tad bunkers over that.With social media becoming the opium of choice for the masses, information and disinformation can and trigger sometimes destructively strong reactions.
With this said, deepfakes aren’t given the attention they need, at least not according to technology expert Patricia Gestoso-Souto who said: “As for deepfakes, I wish I could see more action where it matters, for example non-consensual sexual deepfakes, which account for 96% of all deepfakes – but unfortunately, the progress is very slow.”
