The moribund US education system, dying under the heels of the ubiquitous and pervasive jack boots of neo-Marxist indoctrinators masquerading as so-called educators, took a couple breaths of life last week.
Sally Kornbluth of the revered MIT finally stated that they were really in the talent business. Thus, no more, well, more merit-based admissions and more. Thus, my hurray! Those new bridge, tunnels, nuclear powerplant and so on will be engineered by the best and the brightest out of MIT who earned the privilege to be trusted.
And to further blow my mind—because this was asserted to have been motivated by backlash from some constituencies—the San Francisco Unified School District will drop their “equity grading strategy.” For real! They were actually going to do this! Students would no longer be required to attend classes, turn in homework on time, weekly test with no impact on grades and more insipid stuff. The ultimate determinant in passing a class would be a final exam that students would take multiple times.
“Grading for Equity” would get the student an A with a score of 80 (used to be 90+), with a 21 for passing D. A 21 makes a kid functionally illiterate.
Lest anyone think that this was some sort of intellectual re-awakening, nothing of the sort. Rather, the crushing weight of Trump’s checkbook.
